Electronics Technician Apprentice lll

Job Purpose:

Performs skilled electrical work in the installation, testing, and maintenance of single and three-phase meters and metering-related equipment.  This position will also be responsible for installation, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic drops.


Duties:

Test, services, maintains, and calibrates all meters, instrument transformers, and metering equipment.

Performs connects and disconnects of electrical service to residential and commercial accounts.

Identifies and reports safety hazards, vandalism, meter tampering, and other potential issues.

Install and maintain poly-phase and special metering including CT meter cabinets.

Collect hourly meter data for industrial and special billing customers.  Translate data for billing in-house and GEC for key accounts.

Perform field fiber-optic work: terminations and repair.

Install overhead and underground fiber service drops.

Must keep vehicle clean and organized.

Performs other job related duties as assigned.


Skills/Qualifications:

High school diploma or state equivalency certification required. A minimum of one (1) year related

experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and applications customarily used in an office and engineering environment.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, safety material, and other work-related documents.  Ability to use appropriate communications skills, to safely operate equipment associated with this job, ability to read and comprehend job-related paperwork, company publications and safety information. Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must be able to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds.


Work Environment:  The majority of the duties of this job are performed outdoors as such the employee will be exposed to various weather conditions including extreme heat and risk of electrical shock.  The employee will be required to utilize specific safety equipment and follow all safety rules.
