Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of heavy equipment to identify and fix issues before they escalate.
  • Perform complex diagnostics to determine the causes of mechanical failures and develop appropriate repair strategies.
  • Repairs and replace damaged or worn parts in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Test mechanical equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
  • Keep detailed records of services performed, parts used, and time spent on each task.
  • Collaborate with the equipment management team to schedule maintenance and repairs, minimizing downtime.
  • Stay current with the latest technologies and practices in heavy equipment repair and maintenance
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • Proven work experience as a Diesel Mechanic, specifically with heavy equipment, for a minimum of 3 years.
  • At least 3 years of experience in diagnostics and troubleshooting of heavy equipment.
  • Technical certification in Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Equipment Repair, or a related field is a plus.
  • Welding knowledge is also a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other components of heavy machinery.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
  • High School diploma or equivalent, additional technical training or certification is highly preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor work in a yard environment, subject to weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and climb on and around heavy equipment regularly.
  • Occasional weekend or overtime work may be required to meet inventory deadlines.
