Position Description:

This position is under the direct supervision of the Center Supervisor and is responsible for the planning and implementation of classroom educational activities for enrolled children.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

*Plan and implement the curriculum through lesson plans and daily enrichment activities.

 *Ensure appropriate tracking/documentation of child outcomes, anecdotal and observation notes and meet school readiness goals. 

*Maintain Reports and records of attendance, progress and health of children.

*Conduct home visits/parent-teacher conferences

*Attend staff meetings, workshops, in-services trainings and parent meetings. 

*Responsible for screenings and on-going assessments of enrolled children.

*Assist in identifying classroom volunteers

*Responsible for room arrangements to maximize a safe and nurturing environment. 

*Sits with children during mealtimes and eat same meal. 

*Plan and administer behavioral plans.

*Observe children for any suspected signs of child abuse or neglect and report observations immediately to center supervisor. 

Other Responsibilities:

*Assist families in their efforts to improve the condition and quality of family life through community services and resources.

*Report absences, injuries and all other conditions that may be detrimental to the effectiveness of the program.

*Perform related duties as assigned. 

Supervisory Level:

This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the classroom teacher aide. 

Employment Standards or Job Requirements:

An associate or Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or a related degree with six (6) courses in Early Childhood Education. One (1) year experience teaching pre-school children. An acceptable Criminal Background Check and Drug Screen. Must possess positive customer service skills in relating to the public and with diverse populations.  

Typical Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift 30-50lbs and carry 20-30lbs.

This job requires normal range f vision and hearing or eye-hand coordination.

Typical Mental Demands:

Must be able to communicate (written and verbally) with parents and have the ability to manage a classroom setting. 

Working Conditions:

 This job is performed in a classroom setting.
