Position Description:

This position will assist the Teacher in planning and implementation of an effective educational program for enrolled children. Under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:

*Assist the teacher in the development and implementation of a lesson plan and curriculum implementation.

*Assist the teacher in recordkeeping, maintaining classroom and equipment in a neat, orderly fashion. 

*Assist in conduction daily health and environment checklists. 

*Assist the teacher in maintaining discipline ad supervision.

*Attend workshops, trainings, and parent meetings.

*Exhibiting a nurturing, caring attitude to all children.

*Assist in generating In-kind/volunteer services.

*Assist teacher with guiding and facilitating activities of the children both indoors and outdoors.  


Other Responsibilities:

*Assist in meal service/activities, sits with children and eat the same meal.

*Assist with maintaining appropriate documentation of anecdotal and observation notes

*Report absences, injuries and all other conditions that may be detrimental to the effectiveness of the program.

*Perform bus monitoring duties as required.

*Assist teacher in observations of suspected child abuse or neglect.

*Perform related duties as assigned. 


Supervisory level:

Provides no direct supervision.


Employment Standards or Job Description:

An associate degree or child development associate (CDA) must have acceptable Criminal Background Check and Drug Screen. (Coastal provides training for CDA). 


Typical Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift 30-50lbs and carry 20-30lbs.


Typical Mental Demands:

Positive interpersonal communication skills and must be able to interact within a classroom setting. 


Working Conditions:

Work performed within a classroom setting.
